Staples, Inc. an $11 billion retailer of office supplies, business services, furniture and technology serves consumers, home-based business and Fortune 500 companies in North America and throughout Europe. The retailer needed to determine the optimal distribution network to support forecasts in Staples Retail and Delivery business units.
Staples selected Radical Tools to complement their existing modeling technology. Ideal for developing quick cost simulation models, Radical Tools provided initial evaluation and scope setting, as well as detailed benchmarking. Radical Tools also was used to build transition models, allowing Staples to quickly evaluate multiple network scenarios and determine the impact of complex network transitions over multiple years.
THE RESULT: QUICKLY DOING MORE WITH LESS
Using Radical Tools, Staples determined key cost drivers and delivered
initial results months earlier than expected. This allowed Staples to
concentrate on the full-scale optimization model that was being built
in parallel. Radical Tools significantly reduced resource requirements,
provided faster project turn-around and increased the overall accuracy
of the results.
