Since we first released Radical Tools 1.0, we have had requests to support Canadian geography. By taking advantage of the new architecture introduced in Radical Tools 4.0, we are now able to offer a solution that is fully backwards compatible, and in no way compromises the ease of use and performance that has always been the trademark of Radical Tools.
Support for Canadian Geography
- Canadian cities and provinces can be mapped to postal codes.
- Postal codes can be mapped to Canadian city, province.
- All distance tools will compute road distances between Canadian points and/or US locations.
- Rate contract functionality has been enhanced to support Canadian postal codes and provinces, allowing custom Truckload, LTL and Package contracts to be created. This means all our rating tools now support Canadian rating.
- New custom zone tariff functionality enables easy support of a wide variety of US and Canadian package tariffs.
- LTL Rates between US and Canada can be computed using a Mars 510 Tariff (requires the purchase of the Mars 510 tariff).
- It is now possible to find weighted centroids for network analysis purposes of any mix of Canadian and US Locations.
- It is easy to find the closest facilities for a given customer across US/Canada locations.
- Radical Tools will automatically resolve location information, so Canadian and US location data can be mixed without need to use special functions.
- Country codes are supported, allowing future geographic support of Mexico and potentially other countries.
- Comes with several pre-built package rate contracts for Intra Canada, and for US/Canada shipments.
- As always, Radical Tools maintains its incredible performance, allowing hundreds of thousands of ratings, distance calculations, cheapest and closest calculations to be done in seconds.
Updated US Data
- All US geography has been updated.
- Includes 2011 UPS and FedEx rates.
Other New Functionality
- Radical Tools 5 introduces a Multi-stop Delivery Cost estimation tool. This proprietary and unique method allows you to estimate the cost of delivering shipments using multi-stop truck routes (milk-runs). This is extremely useful for Network Analysis, Cost Allocation, ABC Costing, and much more. We have used the methodology for a number of projects with great success, and are very excited to allow our customers access to this capability.
- Error handling has been improved and will provide more specific error information in verbose mode. For example, most tools will now report whether it is the origin or the destination location which is ba (as opposed to just a bad location error message).
- It is now possible to turn "Geographic Approximation" on for all functions, versus having to provide a flag for each function.
- Updated Help Files and sample spreadsheets.
